Two Ways a Company Can End Your Policy
Cancellation
The company sends you a notice saying they will no longer provide coverage starting on a specific date. This could be as soon as 10 days or as long as 30 days, depending on the reason and state law.
Non-Renewal
Instead of ending coverage mid-term, they let your policy run until its expiration date — but they won’t start a new 6-month or 12-month cycle.
Why Does This Happen?
Insurance companies, like any other business, have to stay profitable. If an account starts costing them more than they’re comfortable with, they may decide to step away.
Some common triggers:
A pattern of multiple claims, even small ones, that signal bigger risks ahead
